The holiday season is here! If you’re anything like Child Life Specialist Katie Taylor, you know the value in having an activity on hand and ready to go at a moment’s notice. We LOVE this simple snowflake craft for a few reasons:

1. You can prep it and take it with you anywhere (like the doctor’s office!)
2. You only need two items to make it
3. You can adapt it to make it a more interactive learning and therapeutic activity too
    

What you need:

• Pipe cleaners
• Small beads

What you do:

• Select three pipe cleaners
• Twist them together a few times then fan them out into a snowflake shape
• Add beads!
• Twist the ends down to secure your beads

Adaptations:

• Colors: use this activity as an opportunity to work on sorting by colors
• Counting: practice counting different numbers or skip-counting (2, 4, 6, etc.)
• Patterns: make different patterns
• Emotions: you can even make this a therapeutic art activity! Sort your beads by color and have your child name each color with an emotion, then start beading your snowflake and have them lead you in a discussion about the choices of their colors.
